The Advanced Fiber Fusion Process Behind Every Histar Splicer

How Histar Fusion Splicers Ensure Precise and Low-Loss Fiber Connections
November 07, 2025

Before achieving a perfect fiber splice, each optical fiber must undergo several essential steps — removing the protective coating, cleaning the glass surface, and performing an accurate cleave to create smooth and perpendicular end faces.

Once the fibers are properly prepared and fixed into the splicer’s holders, the Histar intelligent fusion splicer automatically completes the remaining operations through three advanced stages: alignment, impurity removal, and fusion bonding.

1. Smart Alignment

Histar fusion splicers use ultra-precise motors and high-definition imaging to align fiber cores with micron-level

accuracy. This ensures stable core matching and minimizes insertion loss, providing consistent signal transmission

performance even under demanding field conditions.

2. Automatic Impurity Removal

Even after manual cleaning, tiny particles or moisture can still affect fusion quality. Histar splicers generate a

controlled pre-fusion spark that effectively burns off any residual dust or humidity — a step that guarantees a

cleaner splice interface and longer-lasting reliability.

3. Precision Fusion Bonding

After alignment and cleaning, the device emits a high-temperature fusion arc to melt and permanently bond the

two fiber ends.

This process preserves the core-to-cladding separation, minimizing optical attenuation. Most Histar splicers

achieve splice losses as low as 0.1 dB or less, ensuring top-tier network performance.

Histar offers a complete range of cladding alignment, core alignment, and ribbon fiber splicers, along with specialty

models for PM and LDF fibers. By integrating intelligent alignment algorithms and advanced arc control technology,

Histar helps engineers achieve faster, simpler, and higher-quality splicing for every connection.
